After a great day on the water, many of my clients love taking their fresh catch straight to a local restaurant for a hot meal prepared just the way they like it. While every restaurant’s policy can change based on staffing, health regulations, and the size/species of your fish, these local favorites have historically been friendly to anglers and are worth reaching out to.Here are some trusted spots that my clients and other local fishermen often use
Basin Seafood Market & Kitchen – Port Salerno A local favorite in the heart of the fishing village. Basin has been included in several Martin County “hook and cook” guides in the past, and many anglers report bringing in their own cleaned catch for frying, grilling, or blackening. Casual, fresh, and close to the Manatee Pocket.Shrimper’s Grill & Raw Bar – Manatee Pocket, Port Salerno A true waterfront staple and one of the most convenient spots to visit right after a charter. It’s popular with fishermen and known for being flexible, but policies may vary day-to-day, so a quick call before heading over is always a good idea.
Fysh Bar & Grill / Two Georges – Port Salerno Waterfront Located right on the water and listed in past county guides as a “hook & cook” option. Great atmosphere for relaxing after a charter, and often able to prepare cleaned fish brought in by guests.
Fresh Catch Seafood Grill – Stuart (Indian Street) Known for incredibly fresh seafood filleted on-site daily. While not officially advertised as a “cook-your-catch” restaurant, they have been known to accommodate anglers who bring in properly cleaned fish. Always call first to confirm availability.
Mangia Clam Bar – Port Salerno A lively waterfront spot with a local seafood menu and plenty of character. They’ve been flexible for anglers in the past, especially when the catch is fresh and already cleaned. Great option if you want a casual vibe after your trip.
✔️ Captain’s Note
I always recommend calling ahead to confirm their current policy — Bring your fish cleaned and filleted (most restaurants require this) Bring your catch directly after the trip for the best flavor.
